Darlington Ringing Teaching Centre

In 2019 the D&N established a ringing teaching centre based at Holy Trinity in Darlington.

The primary aim of the centre is to teach new ringers so that bells in Darlington and the surrounding area are rung regularly for Sunday service. However, we are happy to teach anyone who wants to learn to ring or to try and help anyone who wishes to improve their bell handling.

We have a simulator which can be used to help ringers at all levels, from learning to ring rounds to ringing complicated methods (using the computer to ‘fill in’ the other bells). It can also be used to help practice ringing up and down in peal.

Teaching is provided by experienced ringers who are accredited members of the Association of Ringing Teachers (ART) or who are working towards accreditation and are working under the guidance of an ART mentor.

We use the ART ‘Learning the Ropes’ scheme to monitor progress.

If anyone wishes to learn to ring, or is interested in becoming a teacher, please get in touch with Anthea or Chris Enzor.
